Dear BTS coaches,
The air is getting crisp and the leaves are turning brown, and as both the high school and college football seasons wind down we know it is time for the start of wrestling season. We at Beat the Streets are very excited about the coming year and can't wait for our December 1 start!! We have an exciting year planned and have everything from a BTS dual season, all-star teams vs L.I., more scrimmages and wrestling days, trips to college wrestling duals, and to top it off a gigantic City wrestling championship that will rival the NCAA'S.
However like any structure we must first start with our foundation. This is a perfect segway to tell you about our NEW, huge, and exciting Coaching Certification Weekend we have planned for you! Not one, but two days of training to bring you and your team to the ultimate next level. Yes, I did say team. Your wrestlers are now invited to both days of exciting training and will train separately in their own championship venue.
The weekend training starts at GRAND STREET CAMPUS (home of the 2007 city wrestling champions) from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. We will discuss coaching theory, training, and teaching techniques with some mat work.
The answer to the next question is YES...we will feed you.
Please note that ALL BTS winter coaches are mandated to attend this certification training.
On Saturday the training shifts to HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY (home of the Pride) for a day of championship wrestling technique. Coach Brian Smith, head coach of Missouri U. headlines the clinic staff dedicated to bringing your coaching to a whole new level! Former winning Long Island College Coaches Al Bevilacqua (Hofstra) and Mike Cigala (U.S. Merchant Marine Academy) will also instruct. Larry Cantor, PS AL commissioner of wrestling, will speak on wrestling as an educational/ self-esteem building tool for the schools. The certification clinic will go from 9:00am to 3:30 pm with a half hour lunch break. The day will top off with all participants all BTS / PSAL coaches and wrestlers attending the Hofstra vs Missouri wrestling dual meet at 7:00 pm. You say it sounds too good to be true? It's not! The only thing this weekend lacks is...YOU! THIS WEEKEND make a decision to make a difference... Attend this conference and change your coaching life forever.
Keep Striving,
Mike Cigala
